“Plant Plastica: A Workshop into the World of Upcycling Plastic” is a project aimed at addressing the pervasive issue of plastic waste in contemporary society. In collaboration with Precious Plastic Bangkok, students learn to upcycle waste materials and adopt environmentally conscious design approaches. They are tasked to fabricate a collection of large-scale furniture using CNC, plastic recycling solutions, and low-tech machinery. Simultaneously, students develop skills in stakeholder collaboration and community engagement. To promote wider awareness and education about plastic waste and upcycling, students design, organize, and curate a public pop-up event and workshop. The project emphasizes the importance of considering the entire lifecycle of plastic in architectural practices, from extraction and production to disposal and upcycling. This initiative is a stride towards resource sustainability and responsible design in the face of 21st-century environmental challenges.

B.O.B
B.O.B. takes the concepts of biomimicry and biomimetics to create a captivating experience involving themes of generations, connections, and human-nature symbiosis. With forms inspired by the complex nature of the environment such as the lotus flower, the installation can also be seen as an artwork come to life, mimicking its movements through motions of plant likeness combined with robotic joints and mechanisms, as if it was its own living consciousness. It can also be interpreted as different parts and perspectives of nature; Is it a tree or a magnified view of a plant’s leaf, roots, or branches? B.O.B purpose is also to inspire generational connectivity through its users, activating different levels of movement and illuminated displays based on factors of age and user quantity. This encourages users to interact and explore the various patterns that can occur, as well as an element of discovery which inspires interaction between the different user generations.

Rebirth
Rebirth is a lighting design project that explores revivalism by transforming plastic waste from a paint factory into a captivating sculpture. Musashi Paint Co.,Ltd. provided the plastic waste in the form of colored plates, which were assembled to depict dynamic movements of ascent or descent. The arrangement appears random, with clusters varying in dimensions. Embracing non-linearity and freedom, the composition aligns with the revivalist theme. While materiality plays a role, the focus lies on light and its configuration. The weaving and spiraling of light among clusters infuses the sculpture with a sense of life and rebirth. Pulsing and fading in rhythmic velocity, different parts of the composition come back to life, symbolizing rejuvenation. This sequence, combined with the physical structure, embodies the journey of rebirth and purpose within the realm of lighting design.
