Rebirth is a lighting design project that explores revivalism by transforming plastic waste from a paint factory into a captivating sculpture. Musashi Paint Co.,Ltd. provided the plastic waste in the form of colored plates, which were assembled to depict dynamic movements of ascent or descent. The arrangement appears random, with clusters varying in dimensions.

Embracing non-linearity and freedom, the composition aligns with the revivalist theme. While materiality plays a role, the focus lies on light and its configuration. The weaving and spiraling of light among clusters infuses the sculpture with a sense of life and rebirth. Pulsing and fading in rhythmic velocity, different parts of the composition come back to life, symbolizing rejuvenation. This sequence, combined with the physical structure, embodies the journey of rebirth and purpose within the realm of lighting design.

Performative Clock

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have experienced more physical isolation due to daily online activities such as Zoom meetings, Google Meet lectures, online exams, and digital submissions. After the pandemic, our social lives may change forever with limited social encounters and gatherings only reserved for special occasions. This may lead to less social interaction and fewer chance encounters which are valuable for a tightly-knit group such as the Faculty of Architecture where students spend most of their time together. Inspired by the giant Ghibli clock in Tokyo, the Performative Clock serves as one of the must-see attractions at Chulalongkorn University, and it attempts to reconnect the community through carefully orchestrated performances that attract the attention of the wider public.

Chanhunbamphen School Cafe/Gallerie

Over the summer, a group of students undertook the task of designing the layout and furniture for a Cafe & Gallery in an empty area within Chanhunmumphen school. The proposed design involved repurposing old wood, doors, and cabinet drawers to create furniture for the interior of the space. Once the design of the prototype, including chairs, tables, and shelving units, was finalized, the students dedicated the following weeks to fabricating the pieces in a workshop. Finally, the proposed design and furniture were presented to both the Chanhunbamphen school and the community.
