As part of INDA’s occupation of its building in Samyan, we wish to involve students in the development of the existing facilities at the satellite faculty to substantiate Samyan as a maker

space and a formidable resource for design production and exhibition at INDA. The project for the INDA Lab includes the renovation of old and new workrooms, the procurement, production, installation, and storage of tools, and the creation of a training program and new exhibition facilities.

INDA Makes INDA

In an exploratory and ambitious school like INDA, the spaces where learning and experimentation happen are vital to its livelihood and its success as a creative hub. This workshop aims to design and realize support components and devices (including furniture pieces, identity elements, storage units, etc.) for the new studio spaces at the Chulapat 14 building. Students research the social and creative dynamics of spaces that are not used specifically for classroom instruction in design schools around the world. They examine spaces that foster dialog and discussion, and they explore the value of seemingly unnecessary spaces and elements. How can we enable exchange and support informal interactions through the design of space and the objects within it?

Ton-Tao Ceramic Pavilion

The Baan Mueng Goong Ceramic Pavilion reimagines a gallery for ceramic works. Inspired by the village’s ceramic kiln reflecting the history of their craftsmanship, the gallery creates an immersive experience resembling the interior of a large kiln surrounded with ceramic pieces crafted by the villagers of Baan Mueng Goong. The design includes ceramic bricks, ceiling tiles, and a cladding system to provide protection from the sun and rain, as well as improved airflow features. The pavilion’s gradient colors on the brick walls and ceiling tiles resemble the heat’s effect when firing ceramics. Within the interior is a showcase space using wooden wall-mounted displays designed and constructed to fit perfectly into the original brickwork of the Mueng Goong village. These elements are designed to be rearrangeable, allowing for various display styles. Moreover, they can be adapted for future displays of additional ceramic works. The pavilion not only gathers various craftsmanship from the community but also creates a place for visitors to learn and embrace ceramic works.
